NaPoWriMo 2025 – Day 14

April Poetry Writing Month – Day 14

Photo Inspiration: Laburnum, Englischer Garten, Munich

Young or old, or becoming, there are special moments. Embrace the fleeting joys and accept situations with grace.

Poetic form: Shadorma, said to have Spanish origin, is a 6-line short verse written in 3-5-3-3-7-5 syllable pattern.

Today is Vishu, the New Year celebrated in Kerala in India. The laburnum, which blooms in Spring, is especially cherished during Vishu; its vibrant yellow symbolising prosperity and is considered sacred.
Significant to Lord Krishna.

The night before, we arrange a sacred offering called ‘vishukani’ at homes and temples. It is the first sight that we wake up to, welcoming the New Year with abundance and devotion.

April Poetry Writing Month – Day  8

Vulnerability is not weakness.

Some wounds, whether from close relationships or brief encounters with strangers, are inflicted knowingly or unknowingly. Inspired by the quiet grace in Rabindranath Tagore´s works, this poem imagines a rose petal speaking to the hand that plucks it.
