April Poetry Writing Month – Day 16

Photo Inspired: At Eibsee, a stunning, clear-water lake in Germany, glacier-carved during the Ice Ages, and is approximately 1000 meters above sea level.

Some strangers travel together, and this adventure is about parting.

Poetic Form: Nonet, a nine-line poem that provides a structured, gradual reduction in syllables (9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1).

April Poetry Writing Month – Day 14

Photo Inspiration: Laburnum, Englischer Garten, Munich

Young or old, or becoming, there are special moments. Embrace the fleeting joys and accept situations with grace.

Poetic form: Shadorma, said to have Spanish origin, is a 6-line short verse written in 3-5-3-3-7-5 syllable pattern.

Today is Vishu, the New Year celebrated in Kerala in India. The laburnum, which blooms in Spring, is especially cherished during Vishu; its vibrant yellow symbolising prosperity and is considered sacred.
Significant to Lord Krishna.

The night before, we arrange a sacred offering called ‘vishukani’ at homes and temples. It is the first sight that we wake up to, welcoming the New Year with abundance and devotion.
