Overshadowing Tales

A frog sitting on the lotus leaf;
Surely not the frog Prince from a fairy tale.
Our reflections mere shadow, overshadowing;
Now a tale of priceless memories.

Daughter! Blessed.
It was Daughter's Day
a few days ago.
Social media rejoiced
in posts of celebrations.
I feel blessed
to be a daughter everyday.
Yesterday, but
A daughter succumbed to fate;
Reiterating stagnant mindset,
justified time and again.
"You're but a blessed daughter,
in someone's unheard eulogy."
*The news story, another in
numbers of crime against women
that have never found answers
as to "why again?",
what was her fault?",
“did anyone in her village
remember her for being a
supportive and hard working
daughter?, and "what did she
do to deserve this birth?".
May her soul
transition in peace.

Live a Life
Let me live a life.
Hold not my freedom;
I wish to fly away,
Away into the darkness.
You will see me glow;
My light minuscule
But, a lifetime for me.
Let me be….
Alas! she left the firefly;
A rare occurrence in her garden,
To be itself not hers…
Alone;
That damp night when the world slept
She tried to conquer her fears
Of thunder and lightning
To let her live a life.
