She said nothing

The sunflower has long been a symbol of devotion, resilience, and courage. Admired for its unwavering orientation towards the sun, it has come to represent optimism, purpose, and steadfastness. Yet the same light that nurtures can also overwhelm.

Nature rarely speaks in absolutes. Perhaps the lesson is not to turn away from what gives us life, but to recognise that growth asks us to embrace both nourishment and vulnerability.

Some stories linger in flowing water, in changing light, and in the quiet imagination of those who pause to notice. 

Watching sunlight scatter across the surface, I found myself wondering whether every ripple writes a story before letting it go. 

This haiku has been composed in the traditional three-line form, with conscious attention to brevity, imagery, and rhythm, while recognising the flexibility that characterises English-language haiku.
