Today is Vishu, the New Year celebrated in Kerala in India. The laburnum, which blooms in Spring, is especially cherished during Vishu; its vibrant yellow symbolising prosperity and is considered sacred. Significant to Lord Krishna.
The night before, we arrange a sacred offering called ‘vishukani’ at homes and temples. It is the first sight that we wake up to, welcoming the New Year with abundance and devotion.
