I believe in taking every day as a learning phase, and exploring my writing skills. I have enjoyed the challenges as a journalist, content writer and college lecturer, and at the moment am living life analysing the extraordinary in the ordinary!

A Mere Citizen I Am

India

A mere citizen I am

Of a nation known for its diversity

Unity that runs along

The states, welcomed affectionately.

Having been a part of different cultures

Born in one, studied in different

Living in one, friends from different

The states, welcomed affectionately.

Who I am today

A cultural mix beyond boundaries

Defined through unity

The country, I call mine.

Memories of the pledge came alive

Emotional stir to the National anthem

And I thank as I salute my motherland

A mere citizen I am.

  • India celebrates 66th Republic Day.

Inquisitive

Sea

Inquisitive eyes searched

Listening to the roaring waves;

The unheard voices….

A celebration on a cold night

Friends, food and fun;

The renewed ties….

Caught us unaware

The warmth of the land suddenly strained;

The fury unleashed….

The sand and the weeds mysteriously disappeared

And the sea returned to claim its property;

The enigmatic space….

The wanderer in us turned pensive

Wading through the water;

A lifetime’s promise….

Glory…

kite

The tattered kite tangled from the tree top

Reminding the glorious day it had seen;

The kites that competed with each other,

Chasing the sun as did ‘Icarus’.

The festivity is past

The day became days

Now worn and unattended….

Along came the breeze,

Tickling its senses;

Without fail it attempts flight

With life that’s skeleton remains;

Swaying and falling downwards….

I picked up this embodiment

Of once skilled and energetic creation

That I stepped on accidentally, apologetically

And moved it to a safe corner.

What it felt, I may never know

After its colourful, short life

A homage I pay to its glory.

Unexpected…

The watermelon rolled down
Splashed, when hit the stone;
Juice and flesh
Scattered all around.
Roads pleased
With showered droplets
Moments of pleasure, unexpected.
The little urchin ran to pick
Wary, yet take a bite
A treat it turned, unexpected.
And I stood there watching….
